Halal Standard BAS

Halal standard is a document that determines what is allowed (halal) and what is prohibited (haram). The standard sets out the criteria for implementation, certification and verification of application requirements of halal.

The first issue of the Halal standard of Bosnia and Herzegovina was made in 2007. Halal standard is registered with the Institute for Standardization of BiH as a national standard under the name Halal Food - Requirements and Measures, BAS 1049: 2007. The Fat Council of the Riyaset of the Islamic Community in B&H by act no. 54/05 confirmed that the Halal standard is in accordance with Islamic regulations. This is Bosnian Halal standard became the first European and the second Halal standard registered in the world.

 The Halal standard determines:

- what is allowed, and what is forbidden to Muslims,

- how is the certification of Halal standards certified and checked,

- how is the halal slaughter of animals,

- how are halal products labeled

- which are halal additives, and which are not.

In accordance with the requirements and needs for improvement in 2010, the Halal standard was revised. The second edition of the Halal standard was registered with the Institute for Standardization of B&H under the name Halal Food - Requirements and Measures, BAS 1049: 2010.

The Halal standard is compatible with other international standards governing the quality management system (ISO) and is in line with the Halal standard of the countries of the Islamic Conference OIC / SMIIC I - Halal food.
